Our king/sockeye season at the
camp was a bit slower than most. The king run produced less than
8,000 of the giants. Each angler was rewarded with several kings
for their efforts but it was not easy.
The Sockeye rolled in as usual in
2005. We spent quite a bit of time targetting these chrome speedsters
and they lived up to their reputation for some great air shows.
As go the sockeye, so do the bears
and we had a lot of time to enteract with the furry giants. It's
always a privilege to see bears and we got some great photographs.

The summer season at the lodge was highlighted by
the best halibut fishery in lodge history. Some anglers had 30
fish days! A lot of halibut were taken on the fly. Michael Sirois
landed a 50 pound halibut on a 9 weight fly rod after an exhausting
fight. Many anglers landed triple digit fish. The largest was
taken by Bill Cyr and weighed in at 235 pounds!
The pink salmon run was fantastic. By mid July a competent
fly caster could catch them at will as fresh schools entered
the estuaries on each tide. Chums were present but not quite
so easy.
The silver run was slower than normal all over Kodiak
Island. The great saltwater rip-em-ups were few and far between.
One saving grace in the saltwater salmon fishery was the high
number of king salmon available. The freshwater silver fishery
didn't take off until September 2nd when Don and Sharon Walker
had the first great day. The remainder of September worked out
well enough.

The fall silver/steelhead season
was steady. As was the case all over Kodiak Island, the silvers
were fewer in 2005. We were graced with some high river conditions
which generally improved this fishery. Still thou, a ten fish
day was a good one.
Steelhead was also steady with
the best fishing during a falling river conditions and tougher
fishing during a rise. All steelheaders were successful but the
camp veterans definitely did the best. Experience counts in this
fishery.
